YOU CAN BE THE FIRST TO CLOCK the best timing at Singapore’s New F1 Track. The main sponsor of the SingTel F1 Grand Prix in September has opened to the public a full sized Formula 1 simulator that takes the driver through a few laps of the street circuit. It even simulates the night race as you zoom past the bright blue lights of the Singapore Flyer and the prickly yellow shapes of The Esplanade.

As I drove, and spun and crashed, my impression of the circuit is that it reminds me very much like the street circuits of Monaco. I don’t mean in terms of the glitz & glamour but in terms of how narrow and twisty the track is.
There were several short bursts of long straights but the rest of the drive is like, to quote David Coulthard, “riding your bicycle in your living room.
